FALLING INTO FALL

CDA_9285.jpg

It’s interesting to me that although I am currently residing at the beach in Panama and we are heading into the dry season, or what they call “Summer” here, my body still senses the circadian rhythm of the Fall up North.

Is it me, or does everyone romanticize Fall more than other seasons? Maybe our eyes are drawn to color, the very clear shift from Extroversion of Summer to the Introversion of Winter, or the myriad of baking projects. I even found myself pinning a pecan cookie recipe (to give to a very nice friend to have them make for me because I am completely inept in this area).

September has historically been my busiest month. There is a natural Summer cycle I have observed in clients over the past decade.

May= Motivation
June= Still Motivated
July= Visitors/ Fun (No Motivation)
August= Smoke/ Tired (Disappear completely)
September= MOTIVATED!

Which brings me to October, which is technically my New Year as a trainer and health coach. This month brings renewed energy, motivation and goal setting for my clients. Most folks living in the mountains ski, and this training begins now. But rather than focusing on how many pushups or lunges you want to do, I invite you to open your eyes a little broader.

I invite you to VISUALIZE yourself in 90 days, mid-December…

WRITE:
What types of movement have you been doing? How often?
What are you doing daily that makes you feel healthy and happy?
What are you proud of achieving?

VISUALIZE:
Feel it, sense it, taste it, hear it, smell it…

I never realized in my lifetime as a basketball player the importance of visualization. Before EVERY SINGLE GAME, we sat in the locker room in silence, watching ourselves go out onto the floor, warm up, play, and WIN. Sometimes we did, sometimes we didn’t. But the outcome was always the same. I felt proud of my effort. And what’s more motivating than that to get out there and try again?

Visualize, Write, Do.

DO- NOW you make your physical plans of how you will arrive to yourself the way you picture this December.

And would someone please make me some pecan cookies!
