Brain Health Retreat Recap

A note from Annie and Stacy:

Three hundred thirteen of you registered for the Retreat! Eighty-five of you were able to join the Brain Health Basics discussion. You hailed from every time zone in the U.S. You came from Scotland, South Africa, Switzerland, and Italy. We love your initiative! You donated to the following brain health non-profits: Alzheimer's Research & Prevention Foundation/donate, Mind What Matters/donate, and HFC/donate. Thank you supporting these crucial organizations.

There's still time to donate at these links if you missed out.

Seventy-nine of you worked out with us for NeuroFit, Stacy's unique routine that challenged both your heart and your brain. Working out like this will build resilience to cognitive decline. Keep it going!

We were amazed to see 85 of you bright and early on Tuesday for a Yoga Nidra meditation. Your willingness to try something new is admirable. We could feel the deep relaxation coming in from all over the world.

Sixty-three of you gathered with us in Annie's kitchen to learn about making nut milks and matcha. Bravo for diversifying your diet, a boon for your gut microbiome and your brain. Some of you have started a matcha practice. Bravo! This small act of self-care will keep the EGCG flowing to mitigate inflammation in the brain. In case you missed it, you can find Annie's Tea 101 fact sheet under Resources (see below).

Some of you had difficulty navigating the event platform, but you kept working at it and finally persevered! That's called building cognitive reserve. Well done!

Many of you shared your resources with us for podcasts, recipes, brands you like, and meditation tips. Thank you for contributing to this community. That generosity of spirit is a trait well known in Blue Zones, the 5 places on earth with the healthiest older adults. During our Yoga Nidra session, you learned about the link between good-quality sleep and aging with a healthier brain. Kudos to you for prioritizing your sleep. This brain-healthy habit will not only reduce your risk of Alzheimer's and other dementias later, it will help keep your memory sharp now.

All of these traits—tenacity, gratitude, trying new things, generosity—have been described as positive factors in fending off Alzheimer's.

Many of you reached out to us via email, on Instagram, and in the Zoom chats to thank us for the Retreat. We feel your gratitude and appreciate it. Expressing gratitude is a brain-healthy habit associated with longevity and more satisfaction in life. Consider starting a gratitude journal. This simple practice may help you sleep better.

Some of you have already signed up to join us for the Brain Health Retreat in Panama! We are thrilled and can't wait to be able to dive deeper into building lifelong brain-healthy habits. For more information and to secure your spot, go here. We currently have 5 cabanas remaining.

If you missed it! You can still sign up for free to access resources such as: Recipes from our live cooking class, a Brain Healthy Shopping List and Fact Sheet, Tea 101, and Stacy's 21-Day Mindful Movement Challenge Scorecard. Be sure to download as view mode is only Page 1 of the document.

To watch any of the classes you missed, go to Stacy's On-Demand Library HERE and livestream them for a nominal fee or with a monthly or annual subscription.

Thank you for taking this time to prioritize your brain health. Keep it going, and be sure to reach out to us if you have any questions.
